An early start and a wet drive down to Taynuilt to get DRS 37087 working the Royal Scotsman, and then over to Dalguise for 50031 and 50049 returning south with the Orcadian.
50031 and 50049's third day with the Orcadian Weekend, this time heading up to the Far North and Wick and Thurso.
50031 and 50049 take a trip out to Kyle of Lochalsh and back. Weather was typically grim for my trips to Kyle, but some nice shots were taken. Upon arrival back at Inverness, 50031 was turned via the ground frame in Plt5 - a rather unusual move for a 50!
The first leg of Pathfinder's Orcadian Weekend, using two class 50s from the Class 50 Alliance, 50031 (with 50028 on one side) and 50049 (with 50012 on one side). The chase today was from Carlisle up to Slochd, before heading to Kyle of Lochalsh on Saturday and Wick and Thurso on Sunday.

The final day of the first 2005 MacCookie Tour. We headed back down south, stopping at Slochd Summit to grad our shots of 67022 on the Caledonian Sleeper, 47703, 47709 and 47712 with the Blue Pullman and then 37417 with 6H03 Mossend to Lairg tanks. We then raced the Blue Pullman and managed to pass it at Blair Atholl which meant that we could get a final shot of it at Birnam & Dunkeld.
47712 (north end) and 47709 (south end) take the Blue Pullman up north. The original plan was to go to Wick and Thurso, but 47709 failed to start which meant a late start and ultimately the run out to Wick and back had to be cancelled.

The first day of the first MacCookie Tour 2006. Again we were heading up north, following the Blue Pullman up from Edinburgh to Kyle of Lochalsh and Thurso. Four locomotives were used for the weekend, 87006 up the ECML to Edinburgh and then various combinations of 47703, 47709 and 47712 from there.
A wee climb up Ben Narnain - no views of Ben Narnain it's self (see the walk up Ben Lomond for photos of the mountain) but a couple of shots of Ben Ime and The Cobbler.

After two failed attempts, the last one in the snow, I finally managed to get to the top of Ben Lomond.
73204 and 73205 make a historic trip to Scotland over 31st October / 1st November to act as barrier vehicles in a GBRf stock move for First Group. First photo of them was taken at Carstairs when they were hauled up by 87012. They were then caught on camera hauling 87012 from Shieldmuir to Edinburgh Craigentinny and then finally as 87012 hauled the HST trailers on the first leg of their long journey to Laira.

Day 3, the final day of the MacCookie Tour to Kyle, which started with a visit to Culloden Viaduct to shoot 40145 at the start of it's long run back down south. We then went for breakfast before starting the chase of 37417 and 37401 on the Grampian Railtours/SRPS trip from Aberdeen to Kyle of Lochalsh. We gave up at Kyle and headed for home early as the weather was somewhat wet!
Day 2 of the MacCookie tour to Kyle, which started off by going the other way... to Aberdeen! First shots of the day were at Keith to get 37197 and 37261 on The Royal Scotsman. We then headed south-east to south of Aberdeen where we photographed them again. We then started the long chase of 40145 on The Whistling Scotsman, starting at Oyne and ending at Achnasheen having travelled all the way to Kyle of Lochalsh and back.
Day 1 of the MacCookie tour to Kyle of Lochalsh, which involved chasing 37406 on 1Y11 Edinburgh - Fort William before breakfast, and then heading up to Kyle to check the line out looking for locations to shoot during the following two days. We finished the day off by heading down to North Queensferry to get 40145 crossing the Forth Bridge with the Whistling Scotsman railtour and then chasing it up to Dundee to get it crossing the Tay Bridge and racing through West Ferry (in the dark!)
Chasing 37261 and 37197 with the Royal Scotsman, starting with a midgie infested Achnabobane, before heading west for shots at various locations such as near Glenfinnan, Kinloid, Arisaig (where it crossed 61264 on The Jacobite), Loch Eilt and finishing off at Corpach.
47854 becomes the first 47 to visit Fort William and 47826 becomes the first 47 to visit Mallaig. Photos taken from Rannoch Viaduct (plus some shots of the sleeper with 37406) and then round to the Iron Road to the Isles, with shots near Glenfinnan and classic locations such as Loch nam Uamh Viaduct. We then headed south to Bridge of Orchy and County March for some final shots, where we also met the Royal Scotsman with 37261 and 37197.

My first move in what was to be a very long weekend down south was the sleeper from Glasgow Central to London Euston. And as luck would have it, 37417 worked 5M11 into Central :) 90018 provided traction for the run south.

Mark and I took a trip out to North Berwick with 90024, then back to Drem where we stayed for a few hours photoing the 90s going back and forth to North Berwick, as well as the usual GNER and Virgin InterCity services. Also seen were 60078 on the southbound steel flats and 170423 on a Derby - Haymarket ECS move.

<>After visiting Railfest, Marcus Dawson of rail-net took his Dad and me down to Colton Junction, to the south of York, in the hope of getting the class 390 drag to York. And we were lucky enough to get it :) We then headed to York Yard in hope of getting it again - it was sitting in one of the sidings waiting for a shunter, while a 67 waited on the avoiding line with an Electrostar. Unfortunately it looked like they were going to be there some time, so we ended up heading for home (well, to the station) without the photos.
